There is nothing more frustrating than sitting in front of your monitor waiting for your computer to load. Your productivity is trashed, because you need to work quickly and efficiently. If you are surfing the ‘Net, you find that you are just not having fun.
You don’t have to suffer any more; here are some ways to help speed up that sluggish computer.
Run an antivirus program. In many cases, a slow computer is caused by viruses or malware. Remove any offending code that you may find. In addition, eliminate any spyware using spyware removal tools. You should run these programs on a regular basis to ensure that viruses and spyware never reach your computer
Delete or back up any documents or files that you are not using. Large files such as audio, video and graphic files can cause your computer to slow down.
Delete any applications such as games or add-ons that you are no longer using. This can include print drivers for printers that you don’t have any more to games you no longer play.
Clean your email accounts. Saving old messages can cause your computer’s slowness. Delete any messages that you don’t need. Don’t forget to empty the deleted items folder.
Run the Disk Cleanup application if you are running a Windows machine. On Macs, run the Disk Utility application. This will remove unnecessary files such as temporary cached internet files and cookies.
Defragment your computer. While this may take a bit of time, it is definitely worth it, because it will increase the speed of your computer significantly.
